There is something about this hike that causes us to do it first thing after arriving in Prescott. It’s about a 2 mile hike and half is paved and half is dirt. We choose going up the paved side and down the dirt side. The views from the top are outstanding, with the San Francisco Peaks and Bill Williams Mountain off in the distance. Looking South you see the central Prescott city area and the communities off in the hills.
There are two stops at the top, the first being the highest point on the trail and the second being an area with a bench and the view of the city. At the first stop there is an offshoot trail that takes you up onto the butte which is closed part of the year due to Peregrine falcon mating. One day we may try that branch to see what’s up there.
